Learning Difficulties
For many years, Alan has worked on an individual basis with children and adults with learning problems. Many assessed conditions such as dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADD, ADHD, Autistic Spectrum Disorders and other non-specific learning difficulties have a physiological or neurological basis.
At Learning Solutions we assess these specific capabilities for learning. As you will appreciate if you or your child has problems with reading, spelling, writing or other difficulties this is often just a symptom of a deeper cause - the reading or writing is not itself the cause.
A further area of assessment is that of retained primitive reflexes. Primitive reflexes are automatic physical responses to help us survive in the first few months of life. Retention of these reflexes beyond 12 months of age may impact upon our acquisition of physical and academic skills.
It is well known that sight, sound and touch are our three main ways of learning. Our assessments include checks of:
- visual processing
- auditory processing
- balance and co-ordination
- short term memory
There is a vital difference between:
- hearing and listening
- looking and seeing
Also automatic flowing movement through good balance and co-ordination are important for optimum learning. If this is not present then learning may be adversely affected.
Our unique combination of Brain Gym ®, Sound Stimulation Work, Accelerated Learning and Neuro Linguistics provides all the strategies needed to help develop these areas. An initial assessment at our offices lasts from 1½ to 2 hours and is at a cost of £195 (inc VAT ). This includes a full written report of our findings and recommendations. It is also a fun experience even for young children. We will then develop an individual programme designed for your particular needs to enhance performance in those areas identified. Much of the work can be done at home in a few minutes each day.
If you wish to discuss your individual requirements feel free to contact us at info@learning-solutions.co.uk or telephone us on 01274 777250.
